Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

There is a company in Florida that has trademark on the words spartie, sparties, and sparty. Can I use the word sparties in conjunction with another word in my California business name?

I need to know more, e.g. if you are in the same indusrty or not, but generally, a business name is not the same as a trademark, unless you use it also as a trademark.
