Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

DVD reproduction rights

I recorded a foreign T.V. show braodcasted on national T.V., and lots of people love it, and want it.

Can I reproduce it and sell it, like on ebay or internet without being sued for piracy, copyright, or something?

thanx

Not to put too fine a point on my colleagues' answers but you could also go to jail.

If you don't have permission for the people with rights to the show, then you could eventually be sued. You can consult with us on this for a reasonable fee; one hour should cover it.

Re: DVD reproduction rights

What you're proposing to do would 99.9% likely be a copyright violation, and the US has copyright treaties with 99% of the countries of the world, so you could be held liable in this country for violation of a foreign copyright. In addition using a selling tool like eBay makes your violation very obvious all over the world, increasing the chance of being caught.
