Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California
me and my fiance broke up on aug. 1st. He had some of his things at my place and so i returned the things that I could personally carry out to my car. one thing remains which is a 30 inch flat pc screen. it is too heavy for me to carry out but i have a friend who will do it for me. my ex has been ignoring my multiple emails abuot me dropping it off and getting my things form his place. but he continues to contact a mutal friend to try and get him to get his things to him. the mutal friend wants to stay out of this and leads a very busy business life. it has been almost a month. do i get to keep it?

You probably don't get to keep it, but you don't have to return it until he returns YOUR belongings. Best advice is to write a letter, have it delivered by certified mail, etc.,
in the letter you identify all of the things you've already returned, all of things he's got of yours that you want returned, and mention that the monitor is still in your possession, and that you'll keep it 'till you get your stuff back.
