Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California
I have an invention I would like to present to a corporation. (I am in the process of applying for a provisional patent). They state that for legal reasons, they do not accept unsolicited ideas or inventions.
If I find a referral to one of their corporate employees, will the corporation then be amenable and legally able to consider my idea? I would prefer not to hire a patent broker.

Take a look at my website regarding selling ideas to companies. There is a blend of laws that may apply. I can help you submit an idea after we discuss the law and how your specific idea might be monetized.

As a franchise attorney I can say the other attorney answer is guiding you in the right direction. Don't try to approach any company with your idea with having an attorney draw up a proper nondisclosure agreement. These are commonly used and accepted. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specifics, including the best approach to take.
