Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

Ownership of Herb Formula

I have designed an herbal formula with another person that is now being researched for a disease. We do not yet have a patent on the formula. However, we want to split the ownership down the middle.

Can we write a simple document and sign it?

You could, but you'd be better off hiring an attorney to draft a joint venture or partnership agreement. And in considering the formation of a corporation or LLC.
