Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

Can I patent an idea in Canada if I live in the United States? And if so, how would i go about doing that?

As a Franchise Attorney I can tell you the Patent Cooperation Treaty allows patent protection for an invention simultaneously in each of a large number of countries by filing an international patent application. This is done through the World Intellectual Property Organization, s specialized agency of the United Nations. Consult with a IP or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
