Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

quit claim release

In our events the participants register in advance. We use the material generated in the events to produce books, CDs and DVDs. We want the participants to release their rights (to royalties or other compensation) for any material generated in an event. Our events take place in various American states. Do you offer a release form for that purpose? Which form would that be?

thank you.

Re: quit claim release

If you're using a contract or waiver in the registration process, you can just include a one-paragraph release of those rights.

If you're not using a contract or waiver, you probably should start doing so. It would be a "Terms and Conditions" section of your registration process that must be read by your customers before they pay/register. It could be online, if your registration is online, or it could be on the back of your registration form.
