How do I go about getting a trademark

registered for my company name. I

have done some work under the name,

but I want to guarntee that I have the

name. Is a trademark correct? How

muc does it cost and where do I start?

Trademark attorneys typically charge a flat rate of around $750-$1000 for a basic application. This may or may not include the filing fees payable to the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Have a look at www.uspto.gov for more information about the process.

It's possible to do it yourself, but in my experience, people screw things up, and end up paying me more to fix things, than if they'd come to me in the first place.

Best bet, hire a lawyer.

There isn't enough information, but it sounds as if a trademark is appropriate. The first step is a comprehensive trademark search, following by (if appropriate) a TM filing(s) at the state or federal level. Expect to pay $1000+ and to get started, just contact a trademark lawyer.
