Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California
Utility Patent
I just received a Provisional Patent on
an invention. I do understand that
this patent protects an invention for
a year. What is the cost to apply and
receive a Utility Patent? Also, how do
I acquire a trademark on the name of
my invention? Thank you

Re: Utility Patent
You can look up the cost of filing a utility non-provisional patent claiming the benefit of the provisional filing at the USPTO website. However, the exact fee is uncertain in that the cost is claim dependent. The more claims you file with your patent, the higher the cost.
