Legal Question in International Law in California
China & USA
Im living in China/Beijing at present
I wanted to purchase some items from a U.S based website unfortunately; they would not ship to China
I contacted a friend of mine & asked; if I sent him the money via Western Union if, he could order the items & then mail them to me
He agreed & I forwarded him the money (no prizes for what happened next)
He didnt order the goods or reply to anymore of my emails
$980

Im sorry to say you will nto like the advice I give you. The only option you have at this point is to file a lawsuit against the 'friend' for the money, however as a result of your distance you will have to hire an attorney to do this for you... If you end up going to Court for the money then you will end up paying A LOT more than what you are owed, so it very well may be the best option to simply let it go...
You can hire a law firm to begin colelction, and simply write letters attempting to collect the moneys for you... this would possibly be the only option you have, which would be of any reasonable cost.
