Legal Question in International Law in California

Diplomatic Appointment

Note this message is confidential and privileged. I'm looking for an attorney who could help me obtain a diplomatic appointment which would entitle me to the privileges and immunities as discussed in the Vienna convention. What type of attorney would handle this sort of thing? Can you reccomend any? Note every extradition and immigration attorney I speak with has indicated that their field is not the one I'm looking for.

Re: Diplomatic Appointment

You could give $100,000 to the Republican Party, and likely as not they would appoint you ambassador to Zambia by next Tuesday (subject to Senate confirmation). However, this would only give you diplomatic immunity outside the US.

Conversely, to accede to office as a diplomat of some foreign country, you would have to have enough influence to get appointed as such by the leadership of another country. Note that your success in doing so would probably adversely affect your U.S. citizenship.

The type of individual you would need to approach, in either case, is not an attorney as, in all likelihood, the methods of gaining your diplomatic appointment would violate the ethical rules which apply to licensed attorneys.

The type of person you need to speak to is known as a "fixer."
