Legal Question in Investment Law in California
How do you get monies back from an investor?
My wife invested money with a man that gave returns on that investment for about a year. Her family had invested with him for many years and had no problems. However, in the past 2 years, he has not given a return on the money and has not returned the initial investment money BACK after repeated requests to do so.
He has increasinly avoided contact with my wife and no longer even answers her phone calls.
The total investment including her money, her aunt's money, and her parent's money is $250,000.
What legal recourse do I have?

Depending on the totality of the circumstances and/or facts, including but not limited to the actual investment agreement that was signed, your wife may have standing for a fraud and/or breach of contract lawsuit, in which she could receive not only compensatory damages, but punitive damages as well.
