if my daughter is playing with a neighbor in my front yard and one child pushes the other, then my child pushes her back and gets hurt from the push, Can the child parents take me to court on an assualt charge based on my daughters actions?

Anybody with the price of a filing fee can sue you for anything, however bogus the lawsuit may be.

This is why prudent people purchase homeowners' or renters' insurance. Refer all lawsuits or calls from lawyers to your insurance carrier.

You may be sued civilly for the other child's medical bills if you had custody and control of your child at the time of the accident.
