Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in California

pleasehelp

my son is incarcirated and has a public defender representing him. i was told that i could have an attorney and if i could not afford one i would be appted. one . I asked and was told no so i said i as the childs father would like to act on my own behalf sui juris and request discovery that is on record in this matter as no one will share information with me but ask that i do with them. including the public defender. i need and want to help my son not get screwed. he has been evaluated by numerous psychologists and determined to be manic depressive/bipolar and possibly schiznophrenic, how can i get discovery or help myself to help him? they want to make him a ward of the court and take him from me i need help or advise desperately. he while locked up has been pepper sprayed to the point of being sent to the hospital.i love and want him to get any help he needs but not to be taken away from me.

Unfortunately the public defender can't talk to you about the case. Maybe you can hire a private attorney. You could also try writing a letter stating your concerns to the public defender.
