Legal Question in Employment Law in California

2-Week Notice & Vacation Pay

I plan to quit my current job to work for the competition & have 17 vacation day built up.

Question is:

If I give a two week notice will my employer be obligated to pay out my vacation days?

Also, if I give my two weeks & tell them I'm going to work for the competition will they be obligated to pay me for 2-weeks + vacation time if they ask me to leave without working those 2-weeks??

Thank you.

Re: 2-Week Notice & Vacation Pay

They will have to pay you your unused vacation no matter what you do. You are not required to give two weeks notice. if you do give it they are not required to keep you those two weeks. they only need to pay you for actual days worked plus vacation days.
