Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Former agent is asking for money
I have a real estate agent who left my company a few weeks back. I sent a check for her last commission but now she is saying that I owe her for commission from back in February totalling $1200. A friend of hers sent me the email however. I haven't spoken or received an email from the agent directly at all. The friend in the email states that she is going to take me to small claims court if I don't pay and if I don't pay she will file complaints with the IRS and employment boards. Doesn't the agent need to send te email or call personally? I a wondering if she has a case?

Re: Former agent is asking for money
Write the friend back and tell her you will only deal directly with your former employee, as employment related information is private and confidential. Ask the former employee provide written detail as to the basis for her claim. If you owe her the money, pay it.
