Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Should I appeal my EDD denial for benefits? My company offered a voluntary separation severance package because of a reduction in staff that needed to be done do to financial losses in the company. They let us know there would be three waves 1. Voluntary Separation with severance. 2. Layoffs & 3. Job reclassification / lower our pay. So I decided to take the voluntary separation but edd declined my benefits. The reason was listed as " I quit my job to take advantage of a bonus pay". What are my chances if I appeal the edd decision to actually be approved for edd benefits?should I go through the appeal process or is it a lost case?

An appeal would be a total waste of time. "Voluntary Separation" is nothing but a fancy term for "quit." The whole point of offering a voluntary separation option, with a severance package as an inducement, is for the employer to avoid having to lay off workers (which is a fancy term for "fire") which would trigger valid unemployment claims.
