Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Assaulted at workplace
On 12-09-08 I was assaulted (cursed at and pushed/shoved into a corner) at work by a supervisor/ manager. There were witnesses and I did NOT retaliate. I let him have his moment. The owner and this man are good friends. To ''smooth things out'' the owner suspended me for 2 days without pay. Nothing happened to the man who assaulted me. He has done it before to other employees and has goten away with it. I did go to the police to file a report of the assault. The police also recomended I take it to the labor department. Unfortunately, the labor dept. only deals with discrimanatory cases (race etc.) and couldn't help file anything against the company.
What can I do? Do I have a case?
Please help! I do not want them to get away with this.

You could sue the supervisor and your employer, asking punitive damages against both as your employer ratified the supervisor's torts by not disciplining him. Contact me directly.
