Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I am an assistant manager in a corporate restaurant, recently a change order close to $1000 went missing and I was contacted by our auditor, so I did some research for her and discoverd my general manager may have taken the money and then repayed it a week later on payday, after it was found missing. I also discovered a security tape with her pulling a deposit bag out of her purse the day it was paid back. I submited this information to my supervisors. I continued to work with my GM while an investigation had started, thus creating a hostile environment. HR contacted me a few days ago to get my statement, they also told me they had 2 statements from employees saying I've discussed the situation with the entire staff. This is not true, but because of "conflicting stories" I have been put on paid administrative leave "for my protection". While my GM continues to work. I've never heard of managers coming back to work after admin. leave and am concerned I'm being falsly accused because I ruined the reputation of a highly respected GM. I am also 4 months pregnant and fear I wll not be able to get another job as comporable. I have worked with this company since 2000. Is this harrassment? Or just illegal. All I was trying to do was the right thing.

You should wait and see what happens. If they let you return to work, then no harm was done. If you are fired, you should contact an attorney as you may have a wrongful termination claim. If you nee further advice, call me at 805-886-4515.
