bad references

Can past employers give bad information (personal or other) to those looking in to hire me? Are past emoloyers allowed to sabotage my employment opportunities?

Nope!!! CA Labor Code section 1050 prohibits employers from making misrepresentations regarding former employees for the purpose of preventing their future employment.Can you prove they did it?
