Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Help this is a very bad situation!
I believe I am being set up at my job site for criminal activities that I am not responsible for. I feel that employees from a company that we work with closely and are contracted to service have aquired some of my personal/ empl.info and used it to try to set me up( I assume by attacking my reputation and record). I hear some of these same people using suggestive jokes and staring at me like vultures waiting for something to happen. I feel that they are trying to get themselves out of trouble. I also believe that they have used my identity on
the web (also, at my job we need badges to get to our job site). If go down for things I am innocent of , what can I do and what steps can I legally take? I have taken notes of some incidents but I still cant quite figure out what they are doing. I you
can advise me please return this e-mail.
Should I do my own detective work?
Is it legal to take a tape recorder to my job site and record criminal
statements made to me?
Also, through statements from co-workers I am aware that they may have
stolen some of the equipment that I am responsible for. It has been missing
for three weeks. They have made malic inquiries about it to me.

no, you cannot record conversations. if you suspect illegal activity you should report it to the police.
