Bibles in the work place

Is it legal for an employer to personnally hand bibles to all employees as a gift during a staff meeting?

If the employer's not a government agency, I don't suppose there's anything wrong with it. However, if the employer required reading of passages in the bible during work hours and the employer is not a religious institution, then there might be a problem by violating a person's right to practice one's own religion.
