Legal Question in Employment Law in California
My boss has told me my wife is prohibited from coming on a business trip with me, even if it is no cost and no distraction. This would be out of state and multiple nights, can he prohibit me from bringing my wife along with me at my cost and none to the organization?

What a stick-in-the-mud. The only reason I can think of for your boss to prohibit your wife's accompanying you is that -he- is going to be cheating on -his- wife and he doesn't want to get caught.
However, assuming this is a private non-union employer, there is no legal reason why he can't do this, or more to the point, if you were to disobey him and get caught he could find some reason to firing you that would hold up in court.
