Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Breach of Code of Conduct

I was terminated from my employment for breach of code of conduct today. The manager advised me their decision was not based on performance (as I am the top performer in my team) or length of service, but purely on the fact that I breached code of conduct. 2 of my colleagues are currently on suspension for similar breach but they don't know yet if their employment will be terminated or not. If they get to keep their job, do I have a case for discrimination?

Re: Breach of Code of Conduct

Assuming that you are an at-will employee you can be terminated for any reason as long as it is not an illegal reason. You dont provide facts that would support a claim for discrimination. You should consult with a local employment lawyer to discuss the details of your matter.

Good Luck!
