Legal Question in Employment Law in California

At a California Labor Commission Hearing (not the initial investigative determination), does one need to number, verify and introduce exhibits or is it much more informal than that? And are the rules of evidence (heresay, for example) adhered to?

The hearings are not as formal as if they were in court proceedings and the rules are not strictly adhered to, although some hearing officers are more strict than are others, as far as what evidence they will allow in. The hearing officers are not attorneys, trained in legal procedure. So the rules may vary. However, there is no substitution for preparation. The more organized and prepared you are, the better your chances of success will be.
