California Overtime Pay Question

Hello,

I have a question in regards to overtime pay and an odd work week. If an employee work say 40 hours from Mon-Thur, collecting 8 hours of overtime pay, then works Friday for 8 hours, should that be counted as overtime pay or regular time pay?

Should the pay be recorded as....

Mon - Fri (With Thur working 16 hours): 32 regular paid hours and 16 overtime hours.

or

Mon - Fri (With Thur working 16 hours): 40 regular paid hours and 8 overtime hours.

Re: California Overtime Pay Question

Overtime rates are due for all hours worked over eight in a day or forty in a week. If the 8 overtime hours on Mon - Thur were for hours worked over 8 each day then the first 8 hours on Friday would be straight time hours. After 40 hours (not including overtime hours already paid at overtime reates) all hours worked would be at overtime rates.
