Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I call in sick yesterday for my work place so i went in today after my first break feeling weak and dizzy so i went and ask my boss if i can call it day, and just got layoff or fire i dont really quite know how my employer put it as but my regular payday is tomorrow Thursday, and my employer told me that for me to pick up my check on Monday, here is my question, why couldnt pay me tomorrow on my regular payday but instead delay my check to monday? Is it right of what he did?

You are entitled to payment of all wages due and owing at the time of termination.
