Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Let me clarify:
I accepted a job through a staffing agency based on confidential information about bonuses that was shared with me by the agency. The fact that a bonus did in fact exist and I had the potential of earning it was divulged to me. This bonus was presented as though it was based on productivity. So... I was told whether I received the bonus or not was up to my productivity but the potential to earn it DID, in fact, exist. Once hired and in place I found out the bonus did not, in fact, exist. We are talking about a hefty bonus, maximum @$20,000/year. I feel as though the income was misrepresented to me and the decision I made to take it was based on this misrepresentation. What recourse, if any, might I have?

You may have a cause of action against the agency for misrepresentation, but you damages will probably be minimal. You may be able to recoup any fee you paid to the agency, but other than that you're probably out of luck.
