Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Client wanted security guard removed
A client asked a security company vendor to remove a particular guard from thier property with no reasononing. The employee had no prior disciplinary action. With no other open contract to place the guard, the guard was terminated. Right or wrong.

Re: Client wanted security guard removed
The employer should have investigated to determine whether the request was based upon a violation of law. If there is no statutory violation, assuming the employee was "at will", the employer would be free to terminate. If the employee was adaquate otherwise, I would suggest that he not be terminated, but instead laid off, subject to recall when a position becomes available. But there is no legal obligation to do so.
