Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Compensation for normal work week plus weekend work

Hello, I am currently employed as a computer engineer. I am salaried and live in California. A few weeks ago, my company made some changes and as a result I have to work my normal functions as well as 6 hour shifts monday through thursday and 9 hour shifts Friday through sunday. So in a given week, I do my 40 hours and I may have a 9 hour shift on Friday and a 9 hour shift on Sunday. My question is, am I entitled to some kind of compensation?

Re: Compensation for normal work week plus weekend work

Are you a licensed engineer by the State of CA? Do you have any managerial authority such as the authority to hire and fire subordinate employees? If not, then you may be incorrectly classified as a salaried employee instead of an hourly one. This means that you would be entitled to overtime compensation for any hours worked beyond 8 in a day or 40 in a week.
