Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Confidential Information
I worked for a company and recently left. I asked a current employee for a document that I worked on and she said that the company could have me arrested for soliciting confidential information. I just wanted a copy for my files for future employment reference. Is this illegal?

Re: Confidential Information
If the document is confidential you are not entitled to it. Even if it is not confidential it is the property of the employer. You cannot be arrested for asking. You should ask a manager or someone with authority to release the document or for a recommendation with a sample of your work.
