Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Contracted serious virus on cruise ship

I am an entertainer, an have been contracted with a certain cruiseline for approx. 5 years, only being for approx. 2 months out of a given year. I had to have a physical prior to my first contract, and passed. Have had several blood tests off and on over the years, and about 2 years ago I tested with Hepatitis C by the ship's doctor, finding out that 3 or more other cruiseline employee's had tested the same. This diagnosis did not affect my contract, as I did not have that type of contact with passengers. The ship's doctor sent me to a liver specialist on the islands, which the cruiseline paid the 1st appointment by refused to pay for following treatment. Several months later, my manager received an email from the cruiseline, stating that all personel had to pass a Hepatitis C test, and if tested positive, could not longer be associated with them. I am now out of work and can not afford treatment. The only place I could have contracted this virus is on the ship, as my wife has tested negative. Is there anything I can do to make the cruiseline pay for my treatment and also my living expenses?
