Legal Question in Employment Law in California

My criminal record was expunged and I believe that I now do not have to answer "yes" when asked on ajob application if ever was convicted of a felony, misdemenor or fined. Is that true. I do not want to lie on my job applications

If you had your conviction "expunged" (dismissed pursuant to Penal Code section 1203.4), you can tell private employers that youbhave not been convicted of a crime. It may still need to be disclosed in some circumstances such as professional licensing, becoming a peace officer or working for the state lottery.

I suggest you look at the language of 1203.4 (Google it) to see the benefits and restrictions on expungements.

Good luck.
