Legal Question in Employment Law in California

demoted

My husband was a shop foreman. The Regional manager demoted my husband saying that there were vehicle returns. My husband asked if he could be specific and he would not give my husband any information. He is now just a tech and they pay him less but require him to do the same job without the title although they promoted someone else and pay that person more than my husband but have him being just a tech. Is this legal?

Yes, unless he was demoted for an illegal reason, but based on the facts it doesnt appears that this is the case.
