Direct deposit received after leaving company

I recently changed jobs. After working at my new company for a month, my old company made another direct deposit to my bank account (approximately a half month's salary). I notified my old company of the error, and no more deposits have been made. However, I'm curious if I'm legally obligated to pay them back. They are now seeking a resolution.
