Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I am a director for a volunteer fire department in CA. One of our volunteers is accusing us on racial discrimination and treating to sue if we don't act upon disciplinary actions upon the individuals that may those comments. This volunteer misunderstood the comments made but we want no more problems with him. How can we let him "go" without bringing in more problems?

What is your reason for wanting to "let him go"? You had better have a good one. If you believe the employee is being unreasonable with his interpretation of comments as being racist, I assure you there is only one way he will interpret terminating him. You will probably be facing a lawsuit for discrimination and retaliation faster than you can imagine.
Clearly, you must seek out an employer's side employment law attorney to advise you before you do anything. These issues, no matter how trivial you wish to make it can become far more serious if you do not respond to the employee's complaints in an appropriate manner. You need to do this as soon as possible.
