Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Disclosure of employee information
Is it legal for an employer to disclose information such as salary to a sister company and set up interviews for the employee without that particular employee's knowledge and turning around and telling that employee to GO to that interview???? Isn't there a law that prohibits employers from doing so unless consent is received from the individual???

Re: Disclosure of employee information
Obviously you cannot be forced to work some place you don't desire to work. I suppose your question really is, can your current employer fire you for not interviewing with the sister company?
The basic premise you need to understand is that most employment is "at-will", which means that either party can end the employment relationship whenever they want, for any lawfull reason they want or even for no reason. If your employer wants you to work for an affiliate, it probably has a reason and can do so. You would have to believe and be able to show that you are being pushed out for some unlawful reason or in violation of some contract, if one exists.
Even then, if the salary is equal, what would your damages be?
There are many facts to which I am not privy, so I can only answer your question with generalities. If you want an in debth analysis of your current situation, I encourage you to schedule an appointment with an employment law attorney in your area.
