Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Doctor's note

My company recently announced that they are implementing a new policy where a doctors note will be required if you call in sick for one day. They only announced it in a meeting and have not issued any memos or policy documentation.

Because of recent behavior of management regarding there lack of appreciation for my work ethic and because of the way employees are being treated (management strong arm tactictis) I decided to test the policy by calling in sick and not getting a doctors note.

I was suspended without pay for 5 working days...they are using me as an example to the rest of the sheep, since I have a lot of influence over the productivity of flock.

Re: Doctor's note

So what's your question?

You knowingly violated a new policy you admit you were informed of. This is called insubordination. You are lucky they didn't fire you.
