Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Dog Lost by Dog sitter

My dog was lost by an employed dog sitter. My dog ended up in a pound and gettign adopted by another family that wont give it back. I believe the family that adopted has legal rights. But the dog sitter that lost my dog has full responsiblity, shes insured and bonded. How should I go about charging her?

Re: Dog Lost by Dog sitter

If she was an employee, your claims against her will most likely not be sucessful. If she was an independent contractor, holding herself out to the public as a dog sitter with liability insurance, you can make a claim for negligence. Proving damages may be a problem - You might want to seek a specialist in animal/pet law for such a claim
