Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Door to Remain Unlocked During Business Hours

I dont know if this should be of concern or if it could potentially present a liability.

There is a sign above the door that reads Door to Remain Unlocked During Business Hours. Both exit doors from that room are locked and blocked by a table. One of them is also blocked by trash cans.

Is there a law against this and that it really needs to be unlocked?

Re: Door to Remain Unlocked During Business Hours

It probably depends on the fire code and the type of establishment. You might check with the fire marshal to determine what is required at that location.
