Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Is it Ok to have me drive my personal car around

I work as a mechanic in the Los Angeles area. when i was hired my job description did not include driving. No where on it was that stated. I have driven about 150 miles a week for this company to pick up parts, supplies, and such. I have never been reimbursed for it even though ive brought this to there attention. Am i entitled to reimbusment?

Re: Is it Ok to have me drive my personal car around

You are due reimbursement for all driving done on behalf of your employer by the use of your own vehicle at "The Standard Mileage rate." The standard mileage rate for 2005 is 40.5 cents a mile for all business miles driven before September 1, 2005. The rate is 48.5 cents a mile for business miles driven after August 31, 2005, and before January 1, 2006. The standard mileage rate for 2006 is 44.5 cents a mile for all business miles.

If the employer fails to pay the sums due you can file a claim at the California Labor Commissioner near you (look in the white pages - California Government section) you can claim interest as well.
