Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Driving at work
My employer makes me drive between 50-100 miles a day. Isn't he supposed to reimburse me for miles on my car? Also does he have to carry another insurance policy for my car?

Re: Driving at work
If you are required to use your own car to run errands for the employer or to perform the duties of your job, you are entitled to reimbursement for your expenses. Although you are entitled to actual out of pocket costs, employers will also comply with the law by paying the amount determined by the Internal Revenue Service. Currently this is 48.5 cents per mile, up from last year's 44.5 cents per mile. If you have a log of the miles driven you can present this claim to the employer along with your calculations for the sums due. If the Employer refuses to pay, a claim to the Labor Commissioner or a private lawsuit may be in order.
Caution, you are not entitled to reimbursement for your commute miles driven even if the miles are significant. Consult with counsel for your specific circumstances.
