eligible for unemployment or not.

18 years with no vacations, unpaid hola'days, not sure if $7.50 applie's to her and really does'nt know who dishes out the pay for her my friend works for hearing health associates, Inc. in Glendale Ca. 91206. she's says she's not eligible for unemployment yet she pays taxes. she was hired by an agency 18 years ago and she's been there ever since at 6.50 an hr.!

As of January 1, 2007, mimimum wage increased to $7.50 in California. There is no law that requires paid vacation or holidays, that is up to the discretion of the employer. I don't understand the unemployment issue. If she has been employed for 18 years, the employer must pay into a reserve fund for unemployment benefits, if she otherwise would qualify. Your friend may want to contact EDD to see if she is listed as an employee with this company. If not, she should file a complaint so they can conduct an audit.
