Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Use of your email
I have quit working for a company and they are still using my email address. They are basically pretending that I still work for their company. Potental custumers will email that address thinking they are emailing me. I do not want to be associated with that company anymore. Are they not suppose to delete that account on termination of my employment, so that emails will be bounced back saying that person or email address cant be resolved.

Re: Use of your email
its not your email address, its theirs. They can do whatever they want with it.
Re: Use of your email
Thanks for your question. The email accounts belong to the company, not the individuals that work there, so they may do with them as they wish.
However, if you had a contract with the company that promised leads or business specifically due to your unique reputation or skills in the industry, you may be able to ask them to stop using the email address if it is causing you damages of some kind.
Normally, a strongly worded "cease and desist" letter from an attorney will cause them to close the email account, although, as stated, they are not legally required to do so, in general, normally.
If you would like for me to write a letter on your behalf, please contact me and I'd be happy to help. You can email me or call me at 1-877-568-2977. Thanks!
