Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Emailed by co-worker with intent to inflict Emotional Distress

I work for an HMO where I work in close proximity to my co-workers (cubicles) and I received anonomous emails from one or more of my co-workers (they hijacked an outside email service from computer at work) for a week. The emails contained questions for which they already knew the answers, and were sent with a malicious intent. The emails were disguised as being from a secret admirer, but were actually just used to get information to defame my charactor. I have notified HR and they are working towards a solution. If not to my satisfaction, what can I do if anything.

i see no violation of law here unless they actually did defame you. in order for it to me defamation it must be untrue.
