Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I have been employed for the same compnay for five years, My job has been always done on deadline,My attendance fine,can i be demoted for being too nice, my current position is office supervisor. I have nevr had a write up, what should i do!

It is a shame that being too nice would be used to justify a demotion, but if the employer perceives this as a problem, it can certainly do so. Employers may make any personnel decision it deems necessary, as long as the motivating reason is not based on some unlawful criteria, such as discrimination or retaliation. Exceptions may apply if you work for a government agency or belong to a union.
