Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I am an employee for a corporate company...Im part time but a few of my employees are full time being forced to part time (even though there are other departments they can work in related to the job they do to keep themselves full time within the company) and they are being stripped of their benefits. A couple of these people have been with the company for at least 10-13 years...the company has the means to keep them full time but comes up with excuses not to yet is hiring new employees...these people are good, hard workers and are dedicated therefor the work ethic is not an issue. Is there a way to fight this?

All employers have the legal right to assess and assign its personnel as it deems in the best interest of the company, limited only by the terms of any employment contracts (usually in the form of a collective bargaining agreement), or if the adverse action is done for unlawful reasons. If either of these apply, more facts are needed to assess whether there is a way to fight it.
If not, employees have no legal recourse to contest employment practices that are unfair. The action taken must be unlawful.
