Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Right to see employee file after termination

I would like to know if I have the right to see what's in my file, 4 months since I was laid off from the company. How do I go about requesting permission?

Re: Right to see employee file after termination

Call the Human Resource manager or the person who has that responsibility and tell them you want to set up a time to come in and review your personnel file. If they give you a hard time, tell them to look up California Labor Code, Section 1198.5.

Call to make appointment, followup with written confirmation and keep copy. If deny, go to labor board and file complaint.
