Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Employee quit employment before two weeks completed. Employee signed in house contract to repay the $300 expended on her training if quits employment before 90 days. Pay was withheld to cover the expense. Total pay owed doesn't cover full $300. Employee says she is going to contact the labor board. Do I have the right to withhold the paycheck?

The Labor Board won't agree with you. They will see this as some sort of penalty which is not allowed. If you don't pay her for her time, you will end up owing penalties and interest. The Labor Board has no concern for employers. All they care about are the employees. They don't even care if they are liars, thieves, cheats or anything else.
