Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employee rights

I looking for information on California employment laws with regards to job elimination due to a merger/acquisition etc. Most importantly, is an employer obligated to find an employee a job within the company before hiring externally for a position?

Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Employee rights

I think you are looking for California Labor Code section 2922. It reads as follows:

2922. An employment, having no specified term, may be terminated at the will of either party on notice to the other. Employment for a specified term means an employment for a period greater than one month.
